TTC Presents:
A Bunch of Amateurs
By Ian Hislop & Nick Newman
Wed 24 – Sat 27 June 2026
Directed by Chris Howland
Acting Normal is Overrated!
Jefferson Steele is a washed-up Hollywood movie action star, with a tricky agent. So, when he finds out his agent has landed him the title role in King Lear in the UK, he believes he will be making his big comeback by performing for the RSC. Imagine his dismay when he arrives in England to discover that he has in fact joined 'The Stratford Players', a small local amateur dramatics company, fighting to save their theatre from closure.
Hilarity ensues when the worlds of Hollywood and Amateur dramatics collide.
As Jefferson's ego, vanity and insecurities are pushed to the limit by the local passionate thespians, he is about to be taken on a journey he never could've predicted. Lights, Camera, Action? This time, he got more than he bargained for!
This acclaimed comedy by Ian Hislop (Have I Got News for You) and Nick Newman (Spitting Image) is packed with acerbic humour, lovable characters and touching moments, a proper celebration of local theatre community spirit and the idea of not taking yourself too seriously. This promises a night full of laughter, drama, and pure comedy set to steal your heart.
Silliness abounds, so come join the fun!
